ebay chips

hi has anyone tried these with any success? would prefer to hear responses from people with firsthand knowledge in particular with the 4.0 engine... if so does anyone have dyno proof of them working? or is any gain just in your head? thanks

potato chips? You'd get more horses from some doritos than those resistors

Its a 20 cent part from Radio Shack. The may be sold in pack of 10.

Its called the IAT mod. Essentially you trick the computer to think its like 45 degrees outside so it dumps in fuel accordingly. Downside will be crap fuel mileage when temps go up over the summer. When temps drop below the value the of the trick (45 may or may not be the right temp value) you will run lean with potential engine killing detonation.

Real horse power aint cheap. You get what you pay for.

Want it a chip? Spend 300-400 dollars for it.

thought so...had one in my crx and removed it...am considering the jet chip from summit racing ( never had a problem with summit) would relocating the iat sensor provide any gains ( thats a common mod on the 5.0 stangs anyways)

have to run premium fuel to be of any real benefit? costs enough already to feed my truck! lol almost reminding of the old gm commerical of a ranger hood keep opening for dollar bills...except instead of for repairs for fuel! taking the truck into dealership monday to have checked out. ( burns more fuel than neighbour's v8 dakota, mine is a 4.0 2000 4x4). just installed a tonneau next mod most likely is the screamin demon coil/ new plugs

as far as the jet chip from summit, you may not want to get the jet chip
I actually work there-in the maintnance dept.-and when i was looking at getting a chip/tuner for my truck the salesman told me not to go with the jet chip, he bought one for his truck and it doesnt do anything unless you are on a drag strip, he recommended the tuner flashpaque(also sold at summit), at least that what i think its called, he said it works a whole lot better
just my $.02 though

Nope, don't have to run premium if you don't want to. Doug from Bamachips will program three tunes of your choice for you. 87, 89, and 91, 92 or 93. You can get the tunes performance based or torque based, again your choice. The problem with a Jet is that you get one tune, that's it. It's also hardwired into your truck. With the Bama, you can change tunes as often as you want or return it to stock. Just plug it into the OBD II port and load the progam...couldn't be easier.

As far as I know, a Jet Chip "tune" only affects WOT.
