My 2000 Ranger 4x4 just recently had a catastrophic engine failure. The original engine was a 3.0 liter V-6 and I am looking to replace the engine with a junkyard motor. I can find 3.0 liters in Tauruses and 4.0 liters in Explorers but I cannot find any wrecked 2000 Rangers with the 3.0 liter in them. I was told the Taurus 3.0 would not work due to being a front drive and would have different engine mounts but it seems that would only require changing engine mounts. Anyway, I need knowledgable help.

What years and models of Ford vehicles would have an engine compatible with my Ranger which is a 2000 4x4 with automatic?

the 4.0 Explorer motor should fit but if i was you i would use a 5.0 Explorer motor
