I have a 1998 4cyl/5spd and the dome light was removed when I bought the trick. Of course when I hooked it up it has mostly always been on. Once it switched off when I drove off at night.

Now I know about those door switches and took both of mine out to check them. They are clean and work good and I unplugged both of them while I had them out. The dome light was STILL on.

I tried turning the dash dim control to see if there is a switch for that light, but can't find any. The dimmer works, just no switch.

Is there a switch somewhere hidden? Any ideas what to try?

Mine did the same thing, I just bought a new dimmer switch from the dealer. Installed it, and now everthing works like it should. I guess over time, that switch just fails.

 

Are you sure you turned the dimmer switch all the way up?

 

I cleaned my dimmer switch and it turns the dome light on and off and dims the lights like it's supposed to now. Any idea what keeps the dome light on?
