Ford Ranger 2007 PJ 3.0L XLT Limp Mode Problem
Hi there, looking for advice for my Ford Ranger 2007 PJ 3.0L XLT. I recently installed an EVC throttle controller. After taking it for a good drive testing out all the modes once I installed it on the next drive it began to run rough and go into some form of limp mode. The ute drives like normal for the first 3-4 minutes then goes into limp mode when started up. I have since taken the EVC throttle controller out when this problem arised. The car when in limp mode jerks violently when decelerating and has restricted revs and also has power surges. If I turn the car off and on it breifly goes away for about 30 seconds of driving then the problem comes back on. Any thought as to what the problem may be would be much appreciated. (Have also cleaned MAF sensor). Thanks in advance.
Hopefully someone has an answer as my 2003 with a 3.0 is doing the same thing. At first I thought my motor was running hot. That wasn't the problem as I removed the thermostat to test. Ranger again went into limp mode as hardly any power and speed limited to under 30 mph. Exhaust was very hot....thought a bad CAT. Not the problem as I gutted the CAT and problem has happened again. Only codes I've seen are for O2 sensors which I have replaced, but codes showed up after an extended drive. I do have 210K miles but I like the truck and thinking of having the motor rebuilt. Just a thought, but hopefully someone has some insight of what might be the problem.
