Ford Service Sucks

Ford Service Sucks
So I just bought a house and have been moving/travelling (that why I've been pretty silent lately) but I finally got tired of the brakes on my truck and discovered an air bag issue so I left it at Ford all day yesterday and I'm SO pissed about what happened. Now obviously I'm a girl which is my disadvantage when I get work done but I DO know what I'm talking about (for the most part) so it really pisses me off when they don't get that after a few visits.
So I walk into the office to pick up my truck and she tells me there's a $35.00 total. I told her it should be under warranty and she tells me the oil change isn't covered. I explain I did not want an oil change so she calls over the service advisor and he said he realizes I didn't ask for it but wants to know if I wanted it done. I told him no so he says it will be no charge. So I ask him what he found out about by squeaky brakes (I did an earlier thread about this) and he tells me since they are metal brakes they build rust overnight and they squeak when the rust is knocked off. I told him I know it's not rusting overnight and they squeak no matter what time of day and no matter what the weather is. I also tell him this is the 3rd time it's been in for the brakes and he originally told me they would stop squeaking around 7,000 miles and we are almost at 10,000 now. So he changes his story to tell me they can't do anything about the brakes on the weekend because the specialist is on there M-F. I say fine and tell him the truck will be back and he will be giving me a rental car.
Then I ask about the airbag 'cause the light in the guage cluster (not the one by the stereo) keeps coming on when there is a person sitting in the pass. seat. He starts explaining the weight sensor in the seat and how that turns the airbag on and off so I cut him off and tell hime (AGAIN) that it's not that light and when my 400 lb father sits in the seat the light comes on and it's only supposed to do that if there is a problem. So he tells me there were no errors in the system but they will check it again when it comes in for brakes.
Now, the Ford service center by my house knows NOT to wash my truck... I don't want their little careless lot boys doing it and would rather it be dirty than scratched or not washed right. Of course the icing on the cake is my truck (dirty when it went in) comes out all sparkly and he's lucky I didn't notice until I was done with the paperwork or I would have pitched another fit.
Looks like I'm either checking into other Ford service centers or drivin' their rental car until they figure this **** out. He tries to make it sound nice that I got a free oil change but I would have gladly paid for that if they had just fixed the original problems.

Good service writers are hard to find. Most are as clueless about cars and trucks as the customer.
I'm not a brake/frontend tech, but metallic pads/shoes will only squeak when humid and when they are low temperature (this type of squeak is acceptable directly from Ford PTS). Other than that I have no idea, given you must have plenty of life on those pads&shoes.

Thank god I thought my 2007 Ranger was the only one that had that light come on for the air bags on the dashboard. I was basically told by the service department (lazy service adviser) that the only way to solve the problem was to not have anyone sit on the passenger seat or take the seat out. Needless to say I don't go to the dealer I bought my truck from anymore and still have not been able to figure out the air bag problem. I was also told about my squeaky breaks that its a Ranger thing all of them do it.

I agree, only way to get decent service at a Ford service department is to know the guys. The local dealer here on the island was pretty good, as I was always in buying parts and such lol I've had pretty good luck with the VW dealers that i have gone to.. if i take it in for service, on top of that they detail my car, replenish fluids, and air my tires up too- purty nifty.

Hey guys... I know I've been *****ing about my brakes for awhile now but I had the truck in on Thursday and the sound is 90% gone now! His explaination was that the rotors were really rusty and they were barely making any contact so they cleaned and adjusted all of them... I figure I'll give it a few weeks to see if the rest of it knocks off before I start *****ing again...

Your brakes are covered under the ford Warranty for the 1st 12 months or 12k miles.
How many times have you taken it in for the brake service. I am not sure what the lemon laws are in Wa. but in most states if your vehicle is in for the same issue four times or is out of service for 30 days then the manufacturer must By it back. the dealership will not want this to happen and neither does ford.
If the airbag light comes on with your father in the truck then have him come in with you the next time you go in.
Take it in to have the specialist look at the brakes. If he says he can't fix it then have the dealership replace the rotors and brake pads using for part, not Motorcraft. if they tell you they are the same then they are lying.
I had the brakes on my truck done a year ago. the dealership put on motorcraft pads and they squeeled all the time. they finally replaced them with ford pads and they work great now.

I know they're covered and the first 3 times they "looked" at it I know they didn't. The specialist saw it on Thurs and that's how they got better... 'cause they finally pulled their head out of their *** and looked at the brakes. It's not a lemon, it's just a ****ty service dept.

The rust line is a load of BS if there ever was one. Metal brakes? What would he prefer our rotors be made out of? The problem is probably the cheap brake pads they are putting on your vehicle.
The same brake pads that cracked off of the rivets on my truck and took a short drive home for me to look at WTF was going on. When I got a look at my rotors they had 3 solid, deep gouges. I had to replace the rotor because the gouge was too deep for the machiene shop to turn (legally and safely).

Yeah , the rust thing is Bs . The only way you get rust on your rotors is for it to sit for a few weeks , even so the first few times you hit the brakes it would knock off the verythin layer of rust that could form . (my old truck used to sit till I needed and it never squelead after the first few stops )
As far as adjusting the Rotors , they cant all they could do is turn them , if they were warped . And if they were barely making contact this thread would be OH snap I just rear ended someone .
My advice skip the service Dept. go straight to the Lot manager .

HA talking about service at a dealership? I work at one and I get a hard time for warranty stuff being taken care of. It sucks i have gone 1 month with no results. thats y i have had it serviced some where else. Then again it got damaged in the lot and scratched by an outside service. now i am starting the cycle over again.

yea the old ford dealer i went to sucked. they said they would fix something but they never would. they screwed over me and my dad and alot of other people. i even took there dang sticker off my truck. but anyways i go to a new one and made friends with the service lady because she went to wyotech and so did my brother so we talk and everything. they do a fine job it just costs alot of money so i like to do the simple stuff myself.
