Front Parking light wire...?

Hi - I recently noticed that my front, driver's side, corner parking (turn) light was no longer working. Looks like it dislodged and allowed water to come in. I went to replace it and noticed that there is a 3rd (red/orange) wire going into the harness that is disconnected and I have no idea where it should go and was hoping someone here could provide an answer. Also, my vehicle is a 2009 Ford Ranger LTD... should this light blink when using my turn signal? Not sure if it should act as a turn signal as well as parking light and this mysterious disconnected wire is the reason it does not blink. The passenger's side light doesn't blink either when using my turn signal and upon inspection of it's [passenger side light] harness I noticed it did not have this mystery red/orange wire...it's only on the driver's side. And you'll notice the red and blue wire connectors which appear to tie in and power the visor on the roof.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum

It uses a dual filament bulb in the front for park and turn

2009 Ranger shows a Grey wire for the parking lights, at all 4 corners, Ford used Brown for this until 2006 or 7

Left turn wires are violet/white stripe
Right turn are grey/yellow stripe

There are side marker parking lights, single filament, they use the grey wire like other parking lights

Left front lights use a Black/yellow stripe for ground
Right front black/grey stripe

Fog lights use Brown/yellow stripe

Head lights, low beam, use separate fuses
Left is Violet wire
Right is Grey wire(not to be confused with parking lights wires)

High beam both use violet/orange stripe

Don't see an orange or red wire

Hi RonD - Thanks for the super quick response and wiring details. So I'm guessing it's possible that the wire was added on later and then maybe abandoned when they installed/wired up the roof visor. Would you agree to that assumption as a possibility since the red/orange wire doesn't match any that you've mentioned? And when you say it "uses a dual filament bulb in the front for park and turn" you are referring to the lights in the front that are in between the headlights... and saying that the corner light that I'm referring to does not blink when using the turn signal? Am I reading you correctly? Thanks again!

Yes, I would agree that the orange wire was added or for an option I can't think of, lol.

There are Impact sensors in the front to activate Airbags, I don't have any wiring info on those, but its a heavily monitored system so you would have Airbag light on if one was disconnected

Yes, there are two different lenses, the one on the outside edge is just single filament bulb, doesn't flash
Then the two filament bulb inboard of head light, which does flash for turn indication
