Hazard lights no longer work - '97 Ranger

Hi, RF. I discovered that the hazard lights on my 97 Ranger no longer work. It's not the bulbs because all other lights and turning signals work fine, so I thought maybe the fuse was bad. I shined a light into the hazard-light fuse, and the little metal piece is still intact (not separated). What can I check next? I definitely want to fix them before winter hits.

Thanks!
-Chris

Just because the fuse looks good doesn't mean it is for sure... run into that one before! Try a different one that you know works to make sure. If that doesn't do it then check the switch!

I thought turns and hazards use two different flashers ?
Could be just a bad flasher.

OK, I'll try another fuse to to be sure. If that's not it, someone else also told me it could be a flasher. Does the flasher live somewhere in those wires under the steering wheel?

95-97 have one flasher for the turns and hazards.

the flasher is a big blue box, located under the knee panel, to the left of the steering column. i've not found any at the parts stores. could be a dealer only part.

I'll play around with it this weekend, but if there's only one flasher for the turns and hazards, wouldn't that mean that the turning signals wouldn't work either if it died? My turns do work.

not necessarily. i blew the turn signal side of mine hooking up a gauge cluster. signals wouldn't work but the hazards still did. i think they are two separate circuits going into the relay.

Maybe the sw module inside the steering column.
