How do you read Axle tag

I hear live a vibrating noise on drivers side rear. The sound vowed away when you break or accelerate. Please help. Any ideas. I was thinking the axle but can’t figure out how to read axle tag. I was also thinking it could be the rear drum breaks as well. Not sure. The noise can be best saying it sounds like a cable hitting against some thing.

Tells you how to read the tag

That tag has been broke and welded back together, it's missing the first number and possibly the letter L in the red circle.

My guess is it's a 3, 3.73 is a common gear ratio in a ranger. But I can't tell from your tag if it's a 3 L 73 or a 3 73, the L would mean it's a limited slip.

The yellow circle tells us it's a 7.5 inch ring gear

If your truck still has the door tag, you can get the axle code from it.
