Hey guys first post and thanks in advance!
I'm having a couple problems with my hvac system.
1.) It only blows hot air. It will blow hot air out of any vent I choose but hot air none the less. And yes its fully hot air like I have the heater on. This happens no matter the temp setting I'm on.
2.) If I have my hvac system set to off it still blows hot air out of the defrost vents but it only seems to do it at higher speeds. And then the faster I go the more air blows through but it is still hot.
I'm thinking its a vacuum leak or blend door actuator. But when I change the setting to which vent I want I don't see the blend door move at all?? If it is vacuum would that cause it to be stuck on hot air as well?? Could it be a blower motor or the resistor? There could also be multiple problems. We are in the end stages of winter so I need to get it fixed before the super hot days start to show up.
Its a 98 2.5 liter 2wd 4 cylinder.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

It is for sure the Blend Door, thats is the only temp control in the system.
And it's a common issue in the Fords, cars or trucks
The Blend Door allows air to pass thru the heater core or blocks air flow thru the heater core, yours is stuck open, so all air flow is thru the core.
Years ago many auto makers use heat control valves on a heater hose to block coolant flow thru the core and that was a temp control, allow a little or alot of hot coolant to flow.
But there was a problem, in warmer climates where heater was not used much the heater cores would start to leak(rust out) after only a few years.
Coolant has anti-corrosive chemicals to prevent this, BUT(big but) it has to CIRCULATE to work, lol.
Just sitting seems to make it less effective.
So pretty much all vehicles now have coolant flowing thru heater core all the time and then stop or allow the air from the fan to flow thru the core to set temp
Ford, and some others, have added back a valve on a heater hose, but it is only used on MAX AC, it stops coolant flow thru heater core but only when MAX AC is selected

Actuator is the motor, it is an electric door, or maybe you means the temp control ****, never heard of one of those failing but it is possible I suppose.
The motor can stop working or the tab on the door the motor turns can break off.

There is no vacuum involve with Blend door working or not
All vents are controlled by vacuum motors, so Floor, Panel, Defrost selection is vacuum operated
Defrost is Default, so if you lose Vacuum at the selector Defrost will be selected, all vacuum motors "off" = Defrost
