I Need A New Key

Hey everyone, so I practically lost the only key that started my truck. Luckly, I have a key that I used just to unlock my doors.

Being that my truck is a Mazda I THINK that the Ranger & the B-Series keys are different, but does anyone know about how I should go about getting a new one? And about how much does a new key cost & programmed?

Brenton

call a local stealership that you got it from or one that carries similar vehicles and see if they can get the key in occordance with your vin#

a friend of mine locked his keys in his car down the block from a Ford stealership and they just read the vin# through the window and made him a new key right on the spot. you may want to bring your title or something to prove that you own the truck though.

Im pretty sure a new key would be $100 to $150, thats what I've been told on the focus anyway, should be very similar if not the same key.

If you have 2 keys you can program a third yourself. Thats when it pays to buy the 20 dollar blank off ebay and have it cut. But if you only have one key you have to go to a dealership and pay to have them do it.

Yes, I was just gonna say that. My truck only came with 1 key. I bought two off ebay, had both of them cut by my local locksmith but only 1 programmed.

I then programmed the 3rd by myself. Saved a lot of $$ than going to Ford.

I can't really help but... I just wanted to point out all the people that are saying "vin#"
What does VIN stand for? Vehicle Identification Number. What's wiht putting # at the end? That's like saying "vehicle identification number number" lol.

Actually I think all that is how to turn off your seatbelt chimer.

To program the key, you just put in your original key, turn it to activate aux, then it off.

Put in your new unprgammed key, turn it to activate aux.....wait a bit and then your done. Piece o' cake.

btw....if you buy the key off ebay it comes with the instructions I just mentioned. So in case I missed a step, they send them along with the new key.
