guess its time for a cluster with a tach, if you don't have one.
the lights behind the clusters are just normal peanut bulbs, well most of em.

03 and older have the peanut bulbs and are cheap to replace, a run to your local parts store will take care of that. 04 and newer have bulb/socket assemblies that have to be purchased from the dealer at 10 dollars a peice.

Would a 2005 Ford Ranger Instrumental Cluster be a plug and play replacement?

My god this thread started out on a bad note!

Those will work, but don't pay shipping when you can get the same thing down the road a little ways.........

The lights behind your gauges are 194 incandescent bulbs. Any auto parts store or Wal-Mart WILL have them. It's a wedge-base bulb that pushes in and out.

If you want to go more hi-tech looking, or change the colors of your gauges, you will need about 10 - 194-base LED's with inverted cone diffusers. This will spread the light most evenly.

Then take a trip to the parts store and get the 194LL, otherwise they will not match correctly if you just put one LED in there.
