In the middle of a massive rebuild on my 98 ranger. While it has been apart I noticed the whole plastic cover on the evaporator box has gotten a little melty (photo attached). I think it originally had some insulation on it however that fell off at some point and I guess the lack of that insulation has allowed the plastic to get pretty hot and melt. Is this worth replacing or would it be fine to just tape it up or something? Also what type of insulation is the box supposed to be wrapped in? Any info helps.
Yes just put some tape over it, you often have to pull out the dash to change that box
Most auto parts stores have the rolls of insulation with foil to cover the engine bay box, its main use was to insulate the box for AC use
Its odd it got that hot there, but Florida does get hot, lol
Is it a stock engine with stock exhaust manifolds?

Thanks for the response! It’s completely stock, I believe the insulation that was there originally fell off when I was working on swapping the head.
