Multiple failed starters in 1 year
Multiple failed starters in 1 year
I have a 2001 2.5L manual Ranger. I had the starter fail in December of 22 and replaced with OEM at a reputable shop. In December of 23 that starter failed and I had it replaced with a rebuilt. That starter has also seemed to have failed yesterday. Does anyone know what could be causing so many starters to go bad? My father had the vehicle before me and was also regularly having to replace the starter.
What is failing on the starter motor?
Does it just not spin, or does it spin but not turn the engine over?
If it doesn't spin or make a "click" noise then most likely the clutch switch or starter relay in the engine bay fuse box
If it makes a "click" noise but doesn't spin then its battery cable needs to be replaced
If it spins but doesn't turn the engine over(grinding noise) then Flywheel's ring gear is causing the problem
2.5l Rangers didn't have PATS, if it comes up
