Neutral safety dash switch??
Neutral safety dash switch??
I want to mount a switch that fits into the lighter hole on the dash to control the neutral safety switch. I did the 5 speed swap a while back and had to straight wire the NSS since i don't have the under dash wiring for the clutch pedal switch. So now it always thinks its in neutral and since i had to keep the auto computer for emissions its limited in neutral to about 3500rpms. I want to be able to flip the switch to allow the truck to start and the turn it off so i can get my full rpm range back. Also i want it so i can reinstall my remote start so that the thing won't work unless i arm the switch to prevent accidental lunging if its in gear.
Thanks for any help guys.

But that set of wires run up and into the cab, should be reverse lights in that set as well.
But not sure the NSS is part of that "in gear" selection for PCM, wiring diagram for 2003 might help, also in IDing the wires in the cab.
Google: autozone ranger wiring 2003
They usually have some good diagrams
Normally NSS or Clutch safety switch has a pathway like this:
Battery-------key switch/PATS--------NSS------------starter solenoid
So the 12v that activates the starter is passed by the ignition switch to the NSS, if in Park or Neutral the switch contacts in the NSS pass the 12v to the starter solenoid.
Not sure the PCM monitors this but it could in the PATS part.
If possible I would start engine then remove your bypass and test if REV Limiter is still active.

Thanks guys i appreciate it! this has been the hardest part i must have gotten the one ranger with different harnesses not much matches the diagrams I've seen but I'm going to send you a PM Rev.
Red/Blue stripe wire was the color used to activate start motor
12volt IN---Red/blue wire------------neutral switch-----------------red/blue wire--12volt OUT
So jumper the two red/blue wires together to by-pass neutral switch
