New fuel pump, 2 new issues

Replaced my fuel pump on my 2006 ford ranger Sunday. It was registering 20 psi at KOEO and 24 at idle. New pump is at 60 psi at KOEO and 65 at idle

Since then the transmission shifts very hard and I lose acceleration from 4th gear on.
Here is a breakdown:

1st - 2nd gear - hard shift
2nd - 3rd gear - slightly smoother
3rd - 4th gear - quick shift with smooth shift
4th gear on up - smoother shift but lose all acceleration.

After 4th gear, I can have the paddle all the way to the floor and it barely wants to accelerate.

Any advice on what this could be?

Welcome to the forum

Assume automatic trans

Did you disconnect battery when you changed the fuel pump?
If not do so now, leave it disconnected for 5 minutes

How did you change fuel pump?
Bed off or drop the tank down?

Yes, auto trans.

I did not disconnect battery when changing fuel pump. But I did after to "reset" system.

I moved the bed back far enough to replace fuel pump

I don't see a connection, may be a new issue

You have a 5R transmission, 44E(2.3l/3.0l) or 55E(4.0l)

It has no "2nd gear"
The computer has 2 options when starting off in 1st
It can turn OverDrive on for a faux 2nd, as RPMs go up or it can shift directly to 3rd

The older 4R had a big ratio change from 1st to 2nd, so Ford added the OD +1st to get a ratio in between, for smoother operation

So you could be having an OD issue, which is usually a valve body/solenoid issue

Automatics are impossible to diagnose on-line, and I can't think of any connection between fuel pump swap and transmission operation
