New. old Ranger

Hi. I purchased a 2000 3.0 4x4. It has a lot wrong. It runs well for now. The front was rusted near the radiator. Alot of gear up there seems to be strapped on with metal quick tites. I probably shouldn't throw several issues into one post. I notice when stopping, just before complete stop the truck seems to lurch forward. When starting from standstill in the road seem to feel like a tug or jolt. Feels like trans maybe. Wondered if it might be the trans mount.

4x4 grinds. i think there is no fuid. saw a leak.

cannot get the a/c to fill. a/c Clutch doesn't engage. found small hole in a/c line and patched. used dye refrigerant can't spot other leak.

other issues are gas gauge not working. battery light on dash. have a code for flex fuel sensor and have check engine light on.

any unput is wanted.

4x4 automatic. v6 3.0

fixed a few things. abs sensor was broken. a plug was disconnected for check engine light. loose plug battery light. replaced upper balljoint. working on fixing gas gauge.

have popping sound in the rear. front tire feels like its pulling away from truck when backing out. tried to raise truck, remove load from spring, and with a pry bar tried to raise the tire for possible lower ball joint problem. But could not get the tire to move.

Reads like it might need alignment

Upper ball joints rarely wear out, all the weight is on the lowers, and you usually replace both upper and lower on both sides when either lower seems worn, that can come up as a wobble after hitting a bump or uneven tire wear on one front tire
Not sure on the 2000 but passenger side upper control arm was missing the camber/caster adjustment on some years so it had to be added to do alignment

Not sure about popping sound at the rear, you will get a sound when u-joints are worn out, there is also a Slip Joint on rear drive line that need to be lubed, there is a special Blue Lube that is used, not hard to do

Yeah the Universal joints on drive shaft can wear and cause a clunk. Happened on my old mercury. You can check by rolling underneath and grabbing drive shaft. Rotate it back and forth to see where the play is coming from.
