New parking brake cables won't meet at coupler - 1993

I started to solve this back in March. I purchased a used '93 Ranger 4x4 as a beater for hauling odds and ends and snowy driving.

This is what I did back in March.
I replaced my rear brake cables on my '93 Ranger 4x4 with 10" brakes. Rock Auto didn't have both in the same brand so I got a WAGNER BC14344 left cable and RAYBESTOS BC94740 right cable. After replacing them and hooking the right cable into the connector and passing the left cable through the connector. The cable barrel is falling short of meeting the front cable barrel by three inches or so, with a new front connector. I took a picture before I tore it all apart and it's obvious the original left cable "stick out" was longer by an inch or two, maybe stretch difference? I have pulled the front cable and can feel spring tension as I pull. It hits a positive stop and won't pull no more. I put a pit in to prevent unwind at the brake mechanism. I'm not sure if the left cable is too short? This is the old cables ad shows the "stick out" of he RH cable.

So thinking the RH cable might be short, I bought another RH cable, a Duralast. It too is short and will not connect to the coupler. This picture shows the distance between the RH cable and the coupler. The front cable is pulled as far as it will go and held in place with the ratchet strap.

After this I just drove it the past 8 months without parking brakes.

So this week I am back at it. A fresh attitude and all three new brake cables. I installed a new front cable, what a pain. Installed the two rear cables and I am still falling short.

I installed with the large coupler with LH cable and front cable connected. You can see how much I must go with the RH cable to meet. The RH cable is the third brand (Raybestos, Wagner and Duralast) and all are the same length.

.I'm at a loss as to why I cannot get them connected? Anything I'm missing?

Thanks!

I have the same situation i buy the cables at A1 auto parts.com exact fitment they said and i have the same issue you have .I measure both cables before installation and are the same large so don't know why this problem. The only thing different in those cables are the springs the spaces are very close .
I will modified and will use one of this:

Final work but still needs more adjustment.
