Newbie question!

Hey y’all. I’m a bit of a newbie when it comes to working on a truck but I’m excited to learn. I have a question that no one seems to be able to answer for me.

I'm trying to figure out what the circled parts are. They are under the cab between the rocker panels and frame. It appears to be some kind of sheet metal body support? Mine are rusted to all hell (picture isn’t mine it just shows them better). How important are they and can they be repaired with fabrication or anything?

Welcome to the forum

Always helpful to include the year and model of Ranger

Best guess is they are part of the floor pan assembly for that side

It’s an 2003 Ranger XLT 4.0

how essential is it? Mine is pretty corroded. I’m doing some rust restoration on the frame. It’s just surface rust. But the floor pan assembly is pretty much a goner.

Looks correct but I am not a body repair guy, just a mechanic
