No Instrument cluster power to lights .. HELP

OK , I was on here a while back bugging yall with some lame questions . I had just picked up a '93 ranger with no radio and no dash lights . I was hoping there was something in common between these and the lights would come back when I got a radio installed . The manual I have makes no mention of the instrument lights or radio (other than the RF choke) so I was hopeful. Well anyway , new stereo installed and still no lights . I took a look around this site and found that the instrument cluter lights should be LT BLUE W/RED stripe . The owners manual gave me the fuse to check , I tested it under load and it's OK. so either I have several blown bulbs or there is no power on this wire . I didn't check for power into the fuse, I wwill do that next , other than that is there an easy spot to pick this wire up ? I don't wanna remove the gauge cluster if I can avoid it .

Any help is appreciated -BONZO 1

it could be the dimmer switch. i just connected mine to the headlight switch directly, bypassing the dimmer switch

Thanks for the reply , I didn't consider the dimmer switch ...... As I mentioned the book I have doesn't make any mention of this circuit and it is too cold outside(I don't have a garage to work from ) so I wasn't feeling all that experimental . I did check for power at the fuse , owners manual gave me a clue to what fuse to look at (f-13?) ,no juice at the high side with light switch on so I figure the problem is at the source.... Took a look at what I do know from the schematic I do have and it looks like fuse 12 is powered on when ignition switch is on , I simply jumped power from there to f-13 and now I have dash lights whenever the key is on . Not exactly what I was hoping for but it is functional and I can quit crying about it .

So now I have a stereo , new tires , new windshield and when it warms up out there it will get some fresh paint, I'm really liking this machine .

Thanks again-BONZO
