No running lights with headlights
No running lights with headlights
94 Ford ranger recently found a set of hid"led" headlight out a 95 ranger at a junkyard I replaced my halogens with the hid bulbs and noticed I didn't have running lights and running lights only work when switch is pulled half way between its original spot and the headlight spot so pull the switch slightly past the running light click on the switch but running lights shut off when headlights are on could it be something to do with the hid bulbs they connect to the existing ranger connector so I didn't rewire anything
No, it would be a problem in the head light switch and you just noticed it now
Headlights and park lights don't share any wires or fuses, only thing they have in common is the main light switch
Do the dash lights work with park lights on, and then go off with headlights on?
Its a different part of the switch but just checking

I would start by replacing main light switch, it is a high wear item, so not an unexpected repair at 26 years old, and not an expensive part
Unless the fuse is blown there is no connection between tail lights and dash light except the main light switch, you can try rotating the **** on main light switch(dimmer) to see if dash light start working again and park lights but would still indicate the issue is with that switch

Switch was to blame so I decided to give a bit of a modern twist to it I'm using illuminated toggle switches for turning lights only problem u haven't really ran into any problems yet other then high beams but with hids really won't need high beams and I'm begining to wonder if I'll have any problems with the brake lights coming on when brakes are pressed or are they light some other way I have ideas to overcome the brake light issue if needed
Brake lights are a separate system in 1994, brake light has its own filament as does tail light(they share a dual filament bulb), turn signal also has its own bulb
In later years the brake lights ran thru the turn signal switch, brake and turn shared a bulb/filament
