Park lights and tail lights

Blessings, I have a 1999 ranger xlt 2wd splash, my park lights and tail lights won't shut off. I checked everything from grounds relays switches wiring fuses gem box and can't seem to get them turned off. What do you all think

Welcome to the forum

Pulling fuse 11 in the ENGINE BAY fuse box should turn off the park lights

1999 Ranger has a Park light relay, yours may be broken, but..............................

Do you have Keyless entry?
A Fob that will flash the parking lights when locking or unlocking

I assume you checked the Main light switch, when it was unplugged did the parking lights stay on?

The park light relay is in the "Relay Box" under the dash
Its above the gas pedal on the center console and faces the Parking brake pedal, should have a blue or black cover over it

There will be 4 to 8 relays inside depending on your options
The lower right "should be" the parking light relay, pull it out and then see if park lights are off, if not then put it back in and try pulling another relay until you find the correct relay
Park light power goes thru that relay whether its from Fob or main light switch

OD OFF light flashes when computer has detected a problem in transmission, its the "Check engine light" for automatics
There may be transmission codes set, they are P0700 to P0803, so there are a lot of them, lol
Many OBD Code readers can't "see" transmission codes, an auto parts store will read codes for free(have pencil and paper ready), but ask first if they can read transmission codes

Not sure what you mean by "My over drive keeps kicking on......"?
The light on the dash is Overdrive OFF, so are you turning OD off(so have a light) and then light goes OFF(OD on) when driving

The button on the shifter is a 12volt momentary switch, not an ON/OFF type button
When you press the button 12v is sent to computer momentarily, this reverses OD status, if it was ON then it goes off, of it was OFF then it goes on
When you first start the vehicle OD is set as ON each time, OD light off
If there was a short in the 2 wires in shifter then that could cause unexpected toggling between OD off and on

When I start up everything goes good when I hit about sixty or breaking, it happens in any time the overdrive light starts blinking then is where the shifting gets eratic between 1st n 2nd, hits hard when going into 2nd. Like you say toggling between on n off.

No that's not toggling, that means there should be transmission codes set in OBD2 memory
Most auto parts stores will read codes for free, but ASK if they can read Transmission codes, most OBD readers can not

Ford OBD codes here: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...II_codes.shtml

P07XX to P080X are transmission codes, there are a lot so WRITE DOWN any codes, "I think it was............", is worse than no code, lol

The Flashing "OD off" light is like CEL(check engine light), but for automatic transmissions, it means computer sees a problem in the transmission
