Pats system

First off i wanna start by saying i have no idea if there is a problem or not seeing as how the truck is 3000 miles away, but it has been sitting with the battery disconnected for about 8 months now, so i know the truck isnt gonna start with the pats key, so my question is will i have to bring it to the dealer or is there a way to program it?

I see no reason why it wouldn't start up for ya. All the PATS does is allow the vehicle to be started with the right key. I don't see how the truck would "lose" or "forget" that.

BUT, stranger things have happened. Guess you'll be the first to find out when you try it. Post your results too, we'd like to know.

well because i know in newer trucks with chips in the key, if the battery goes dead then you have to relearn the key or else it wont start so i got to thinking that my battery hasnt been hooked up for like 8 months now... and as far as my results go they will have to wait until like august because thatll be the next time that ill be close to it, but yea ill let you guys know for sure.

my truck was on storage for 2 years with the battery disconnected.
After swapping out the battery for a fresh one (plus new fluids of course) it started right up.
You won't have a problem.

Sometimes reviving an old thread and posting an experience such as you've had can be beneficial to others . That's why many of us are here , to find solutions that others have found.
