Welcome to the forum
It can't be done, people who said they did it were, well exaggerating, lol
Some older car systems and motorcycles did use specific resistor values as anti-theft, PATS is not that
In 2002 Ranger PATS is in the engine computer, it disables fuel injectors as the main deterrent, but also disables fuel pump and starter motor, these last two are not hard to defeat, but no point since there would be no fuel injectors, no work around for that
(Well if you got an "engine monkey", like a trunk monkey, he could pour gas into the engine as you drove around, Google "trunk monkey", I loved those commercials)
PATS uses transponder keys with an RFID tag embedded in the key's handle, no batteries required
Each key has a unique 80 bit "number"
The keys "numbers" are then programmed into PATS memory
When you turn the key on PATS reads the "number" and compares it to the keys in memory, if a match is found engine can be started, no match then no start
A mobile locksmith with Ford software on a laptop can come to the vehicle and cut and program 2 keys, must have 2 keys
Or you can use your own laptop with Forscan software and a USB to OBD2 cable to add keys yourself
Or have it towed to Ford or a Locksmith to have new keys added
You can buy 2002 Ranger Lock set, ignition cylinder, 2 door locks and 2 PATS keys cut for the locks
But you still need the keys added to PATS memory, no way around that
