Checking for Prewired

Checking for Prewired
I've got a 1999 Ford Ranger that I've had for a while now, and I'd like to add power windows, power door locks, and power mirrors. So, I decided to see what I had to work with. On the passenger side door harness, the block is fully populated, or real close to it.
So next I took my owners manual and checked out the relay box under the dash, fuse panel, and power distribution box. All the fuses were there, and all but one relay was present in the under-dash box, which in that slot there wasn't even a socket for it to slot into.
Now this is where things get interesting. I popped off the driver's side panel and low and behold, the door harness has four, or five wires, not the bundle in the picture above.
It's like the vehicle is 75% prewired. What does this mean for me?

It means you will be chasing down wires and running into dead ends.
Are you going to get all Ford parts, i.e. raid a wrecked 1999 Ranger with power windows, locks and mirrors?
If so then get the wiring harness with it, including relays and GEM.
If you are adding 3rd party stuff then just run new wires.
A 1999 ranger EVTM would be very helpful if you plan on keeping this truck for awhile.
EVTM = Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual, these are shop manuals and have details for all the circuits and sub-circuits.
GEM(generic electronic control module) will also be used in '99 Ranger 4x4, you would need this upgrade for Ford door and window control
If you want keyless entry then you also need RAP module

If I planned to get all my parts from a Ranger, I'd have to get them all brand new. The u-pull yard I have near me is full of explorers, and I mean full. There's maybe... three rangers out there and none of them are what I need. The second one is not a u-pull, and all it's rangers are the fifth generation, and their prices are the same as a brand new part from rockauto.
Keyless entry will never happen on my Ranger, as I have complete disdain for key-fobs, as they never work (not for me, anyway). I do have a shop manual for my '99, and she is a 4x4. Looks to me like I'll be running my own harness if I go through with adding power. I've already got the lock cylinders so I'll just grab a pair of switches and run my own wires, relays, and fuses for 'em.
