Welcome to the forum

We assume a Ford Ranger but Year and Engine would be helpful on most questions.

Did power window kit come with a relay?

Best option is to use a Fused wire from battery connection to a Relay then from Relay to main window switch, thats the Load side of the relay's 2 connections.

Activation side could be from cab fuse panel, find a Key ON only fuse and connect relays coil to that and a Ground
Or if you want windows to be available key OFF or ON then tap a fuse that has power 24/7

The activation side of a relay(coil) only draws about 1/2 an AMP so can be added to any fused circuit without a problem.
But it DOES need to be on the fused side of the circuit, or add an inline fuse.

You can go here to get your owners manual: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/

Fuse/relay layouts start at page 163
There should be a Power window relay or power Group Relay(windows/door locks)
Yours won't have that relay but should still have the location for it
See if there is power there
