Ranger hvac problems
Ranger hvac problems
The floor panel door for the heat keeps getting stuck. If i select it to blow face and floor it only opens half way and doesnt get stuck but if i select floor only it goes all the way closed and gets stuck unless you reach in and move the door a little it goes back down, any ideas why it would be getting stuck?
Vent doors use Vacuum Motors like these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/HVAC-Floor-...-/292071941580
With Floor only selected the vacuum motor gets full vacuum, which causes it to pull in and that closes the door all the way
When panel or defrost is selected then vacuum is cut to this motor and it should push out and the door should open again
So either the spring in the vacuum motor is failing, not pushing it out after no vacuum, or the vent door itself is sticking so spring is not strong enough.
The later sounds like the problem since if you get it started it does open back up all the way.
It could be door is closing too far, a stop has broken or foam seal on the door has deteriorated so door moves too far and gets wedged closed
Vacuum motors can leak or quit working, which is rare, but then it wouldn't move it to Floor air direction, so opposite of described problem
Not sure of exact problem
