Rear main seal replacement

Hey guys, I have a few questions, I'm looking at buying a 2004 ranger, it's a automatic 4.0, 2wd

The truck is pretty clean besides a oil leak which I believe is rear main seal. I did some back searching on here and it seems its pretty common? Some on here say they use he vehicle like nothing is wrong with it and just add oil. I'm a paranoid son of a gun and if I buy it want to fix it

Could someone tell me if the rear main is a 1 piece or 2 piece? And do u have to fiddle with the oil own at all to remove the rear main?

I plan on tackling this myself and like to have all my eggs in a basket before I start taking things apart

I was also wondering what part number u guys recommend for the replacement rear main seal

Thanks for your time guys

Danny

I just did this to my 4.0, it's one piece and all you do is remove the old one and "press" in the new one. Rock auto for the part number. I suggest the timken seal.
