At random, but maybe 25% of the time, both my doors won't unlock with the remote.

They lock fine, but when I go to unlock, the lights flash, but no sound, no click, no unlock. I can hit the lock button, I hear the mechanism locking them, but hit unlock, nothing. I unlock the door with the key and it unlocks, next time I go to unlock they probably will work, but may not.

Both doors act the same all the time. Not once will one work and the other doesn't.

What should I be looing for?

Never noticed it before I had remote starter installed, but I get the same behavior even when I pull out my OEM Ford remote and use it.

 

sometimes those actuators wear out, but not usually both at once. I think they have to be replaced, I know JoshK's Superduty does the same thing. Wont unlock

 

If it was a 2000, I could tell you that the ALL Unlock relay located in the Relay Box in the center of the Instrument panel near the HVAC controls, is bad.

I'd find out if 03 still has that relay and replace it with another just like it. Buy a new relay if that fixes it.

 

Same problem on both sides at same time all the time makes me think this is not it. Unless I am missing something.

I have been in there before, but never saw any relays in there. What am I looking for more specifically?

 

Mine where toast on my truck if its a 4 door is common for them to go out. there actually very easy to replaced just a pain to fish out of the lock rod.

 

i know this is off the topic of the thread but i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get a remote key unlock for my rig ? aka power lock convertion kit
