Speedometer not working.

I did a quick search and found nothing close to my problem. Then again it was a quick search. Anyway, here is my problem,

I just got my truck today (finally) and I go to take it for a spin. Come to find out, the speedo doesnt work. All the other guages work though. So I had come to the conclusion that a wire came loose on the cluster, so I plugged in my handy-dandy scangauge to see if that would read it. And yep, you guessed it, no worky-worky. So is there something I overlooked? I am not a car guy in any way. I just know how to drive them and fix little problems that require no more than WD-40 and chewing gum.

Oh, and does anyone know how to turn on the dad-gum fog lights? I cant find a switch anywhere.

Thanks

I think that might be it. He said he got a new bumper on it. And I just looked on the "radio bezel" and only saw 2 12v outs.

Dumb question. Have you checked the fuse? Don't know about on the Edge. But on my 2002 XLT 3.0 it's fuse #10

For 98~00, the raw VSS signal comes from a small ABS sensor on top of the rear differential. It is a $20 part and not hard to replace.

You can also open the large square electrical connector under the truck directly below the driver seat. One center bolt holds it together. This connector has a habit of filling with water causing the terminals inside to corrode.

Chances are about 99% that your dead speedo was caused by one of those two.
