Took in water offroading, help?
So today i went offroading on my lunch break at work. i hit a pretty big mud pit, had water in it and my trucked kinda bogged down but didnt stall out. It bogged for abt 10-15 seconds and then ran fine. Got to work and took the air filter out, pretty wet so I let it air dry out. Only thing is im wondering what i need to do, is there water in the cylinders or will it just burn away with the heat of the engine? A little help guys, id aprreciate the input.
If it only bogged down I would assume water got into the filter and was not allowing the correct amount of air thus making it bog down.
I would say your engine is fine and I dought enough got into the engine to make the oil milky but it wouldn't hurt to change it.

I took on enough water to hydrolock my engine. If theres water in the cylinders it will NOT run. Water neither compresses nor combusts. I would change the oil, after I hydrolocked mine the oil was really dirty but no milyness. Just change it out and youll be fine. I did have a rough idle after I sucked in water, but a thing of lucas in the gas tank and a tank of premium and she runs like new now
Another reason it could have bogged down is if you got water on your electricals. Once again, if its still running you did no real damage.

just remember if you drive thruogh a big enough mud hole, and the truck stalls... DONT try to restart it till you check your air box...
My air filter was SWIMMING in water... truck was fine though. drove it home and spent the next 6 weeks cleaning it...
