Welcome to the forum

Yes, but not easy to do the conversion

Both transmissions need to be from/for a 3.0l engine, for sure, Rangers 1990 and up all used the same "model" M5OD-R1 manual transmission, but EACH was engine specific, not interchangeable between engine sizes

You need to remove the tail shaft housing and tailshaft from the 4x4 trans, which requires some disassembly of the rear of transmission
Then do the same for the 2WD trans, and install the 4x4 tailshaft and housing on it

Oh gotcha

Oh ok there both 3.0 so just change the housing and tail shaft? I've not actually messed with transmissions except changing them out is it a pain in the byt?

M5OD-R1 is also known as M5R1

Google: m5r1 change 4wd to 2wd tail shaft
