Don't have 2006 wiring diagram but best guess would be the Ground for "key in ignition" warning chime

There is a switch in key housing on steering column, when key is inserted the switch is Grounded to housing, its 1 wire connection tells the smart junction box(SJB, body computer) to sound a Chime IF drivers door is opened with "key in ignition" to prevent people from locking keys in the vehicle
Many do not like this chime so unplug its wire

If chime sounds when you open drivers door with key off but in ignition then this would NOT be that wire

Since its a 4x4 it may be for the "Neutral Light" which was available as an add-on kit so 4x4 Ranger could be Flat Towed behind RVs
I don't see the instructions online But I am sure they can be found, that would ID that wire color as the plug in for the "Neutral Light"
