You more then likely put something in wrong or didn't connect everything.

I have gone over everything. Even took it all off and did it again and nothing.
It sounds like it wants to turn over but won't. I have the correct firing order.

Did you take the wires off one at a time and replace them, or did you just take them all off?

I had this issue on a 69 351, The firing order I had in my motors manual was wrong, and all the firing orders I found online were identical to my manual, however I called my dad up, he brought his motors manual over, we looked through it, and it had a different order than mine listed. We tried that one and it fired right up.

I have tried multiple other orders. Even when i have had the firing order wrong before it just runs and idles poorly, never not start, but i will have to keep trying i guess.

Just to make sure, This is the one I found online. Also did you gap your plugs before you installed them?

1988 Ford Ranger 2WD
2.9 liter V-6 VIN "T"

Also just because a firing order is listed, Ford has been known in the past to change the order mid-year. This is comming from a Ford mechanic who has worked at ford dealers for over 23 years.
