Turn signal issues
Turn signal issues
Hey I was needing help on my 95 2.3l ranger. The left turn signal doesn't work at all. It has done it since I got it last year. All of the other lights work but that one. I have replaced all fuses the flasher ran the wire from front to back and even replaced ecm. I also replaced the lever for the turn signals several times. It won't work on that side with hazards on either. Not sure if its related or if the radio is just bad but it sometimes goes off but not the lights on it. It's the last thing wrong with it so any advice would be nice.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum
There are 3 bulbs involved with left or right turn signals
So the front, the dash, and the rear bulbs do not work for Left turn?
Left turn should use a light green/orange stripe wire, from turn signal(multi-switch) to all 3 bulbs
The way turn signals work
The Flasher has power all the time(for hazards) in 1995 and up, earlier had 2 flashers, one for turn and one for hazard
When you select Left turn the light green wire is connected to the Flasher
Flasher detects the connection to GROUND thru the BULBS(bulbs light up), this heats up flasher which breaks connection inside(the click noise, bulbs off), then it cools off and reconnects(bulbs on) and heats up again, ect.......................
If one of the 3 bulbs burns out then flashing would be slower or no flash just on, this is because there is less load heating up the flasher, if you add trailer lights then it will flash faster, because of extra bulb on trailer, higher load so heats up faster.
So the power flows like this
Fuse----------flasher------------steering column(switches)---------left turn bulbs---------grounds
If the right signals work then Fuse----------flasher------------steering column(switches) is OK
The steering column(switches)---------left turn bulbs---------grounds is where problem is
If you apply 12v to the Light Green/orange stripe wire anywhere all 3 bulbs should light up, that wire is just spliced and runs to all 3 bulbs
So if you pull out the front left turn bulb connector, apply 12v there on the light green wire, see if dash and rear bulbs light up
Ground wires all need to be hooked up at each bulb as well
