ugg cant find dome light wire

Hey all as the tittle says it I'm starting to get a little flustered trying to find the positive wire for the dome light under the dash in my 2000 ranger. I'm looking to hook up some footwell LEDs to it so they come on when the doors are opened(dome light is on).

The problem is I haven't been able to locate it. Supposedly its supposed to be a BLACK/L BLUE wire. So far I have checked under the passenger and driver kick panels then looked up under the dash on the driver side with no luck. I know it has to be there somewhere but I'm not really feeling like tearing my entire dash apart just to locate it.

I'm sure that someone on here has to have hooked either footwell(below dash) LEDs or cathodes up to their dome wire before. So I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks :)

i put a switch in mine. you cant hardly notice them anyways when my dome light and ohc light come on. looks way cooler when they are the only lights on in the truck.

I'm just putting white in my footwells to come on only with the dome like a lot of other fancier cars do. So I'm not really interested in a switch. From the wiring diagram it shows the BLACK/Light BLUE wire going to the I/P relay center box that holds the interior lamps relay. Whatever that is? I took the center radio bezel off and looked in there but didn't see the wire.

Well I feel like an dumb *** :D I finally found it on the passenger side kick panel going into this black relay thing attached to the side.

I only found it after taking the bottom panel of my dash off (the part under the steering wheel). About to give up I think to myself you know maybe i should go through that wire bundle on the passenger side again. Somehow I missed it the first pass through.

Ah well not all is lost I figured out how my dimmer switch works while i was in there lol.

You sure that's it? I just tapped into that exact wire you show in your photo and read 0 Volts off it when my dome light was lit. (0 Volts when it isn't let too)

The wire pictured is wrong you want the black wire with light blue stripe.

It should run along the drivers side of the truck.
