Where is C144 in the 2008 Ford Ranger?
Hey! I've been looking seriously into adding factory fog lights to my '08 Ranger and have already found out a ton about how to do it. I found the official Ford wiring diagram for the fog light circuit for my model year and discovered the following:
1) I have all the interior wiring in my truck, so far as I can tell. I looked at the pins on the factory headlamp switch and saw that pins 5, 9, and 10 were appropriately populated at the factory.
2) I believe the SJB is next to the passenger floorboard. I was able to look at the diagram of it and verify that C2280C was populated as well.
3) I pulled up the power distribution box in the engine bay and confirmed that there was no wiring under the socket for the fog lamp relay, so no harness. I'll have to put that in myself.
4) I believe once installed I will have to enable fog lights in the Ranger's computer. I'm looking into FORScan to do this.
5) The only piece of information I believe I am missing is where to physically find C144 in the engine bay. If the truck were fully pre-wired, I believe I would see a brown wire coming out of it into the main wiring harness at pin 33. I intend on tapping into pin 33 and building my own harness to the fog lights.
In summary, I believe I should be able to add a factory switch with the fog lamp option, tap pin 33 and make a harness through the appropriate relay, and reconfigure the computer in order to install fog lights in my truck. To that end, can anyone tell me where C144 is in the engine bay and/or if I have some gross error in my thinking here?
