Ok so i know this is tech and you may be wondering why this is here. Right?
Well the reason i bought a ranger is The ast time it was revamped was 93/94 Right {I hope so}. And Ford has stuck with the recipe since then. What has changed? VERRY LITTLE. Same dash, Cab, suspension.
So why change somthing that doesnt need changing? Its tested and purified. A great all around truck and does what i need it to do and more.

So why did you buy your Ranger?

My first one... it had all the options I wanted (plus a few more) and was much cheaper than a Toyota (my first choice). It had good reviews, and I liked the style and the feel of the truck.

My second one... I liked my first one so much, after she decided to roll over and play dead, I had to get another one!

needed a work truck.. ma's got a 06 STX ext cab.. i really liked it. But of course, i wanted 4x4 to go mudding and use it at work.. kinda gone backwards since then though. with the power plant going into it, the interior revamped, a new paintjob.. and all the electronics going into it, it'll be far from that work truck it used to be

When I got the first one I needed a truck, partly for work, mostly because I needed a new vehicle. My moms b-friend suggested it even though he mostly drives Toyotas, I didnt like how small the old toys were, but I didnt want a full size either.

I bought the 2nd one because I liked the 95 so much. I was in the market for a $5-6000 vehicle and there were a ton of chevys, but the one that I drove one felt too much like a car to me

Actually there have been a number of changes since 1993. Front suspension went to a SLA independent design in 1998, the interior was revised in 1995, the regular cab was lengthened by 3" in 1998, among other things...

But anyway, I got mine because it suited my needs and I tend to prefer Fords.

It does need a redesign though. January 2007 sales are down 24% from January 2006 sales. Ford's market share is steadily slipping away.

Well it looks like most people buy rangers because:
-they're cheap
-they have the options you're looking (like 4x4) for in your price range (so, yes they're cheap)
-unusual circumstance (dare, got it from a friend/family member)

Although some exist, few people buy rangers because it's the best quality 1/4 ton pickup.

I for one (if I could afford it, and had a choice), would buy a Tacoma. I think they make a great (if not the best) truck in its class. And the fact that Ford doesn't redesign the ranger because it "works" and its cheap to make, doesn't make me anymore anxious to buy this truck in the future.

So to answer your question, I got mine because it was really cheap, I got it from a friend when I was in a bind, and I wanted a truck.

Well here is how i got my rangers in order:
1984 ranger from my father - i had my drivers license and needed a ride
1993 - was cheap and needed a truck - so yeah they were cheap
1997 - first 4x4 extended cab truck i owned - also cheap and thought cool a 4x4
2004 - the dealer ship gave me a good deal that i couldn't pass up - the only problem is it is a auto and i am use to standards. Overall i love the rangers but i think my next truck will be a f150 for gas mileage/power/room.

long story for mine. but here goes:

2 years ago i got my license, i first drove a 93 intrepid and my dad had a 94 ranger, well, he bought a new truck and was just gunna keep the ranger around incase something happened to mine or his car/truck. well i locked my keys in the intrepid one day and had to knocked the rear window off track to open the door (it was way ****ed up to begin with). so i get home, park the intrepid and the next day i decided to take the truck so it doesn't snow in my car at school and so nobody steals anything out of it...so i fall in love with the truck because its a manual..so i started driving the ranger and we stored the intrepid..

so i dropped out of school. dad takes the ranger, stores it out of town w/ all my stereo **** in it and tells me he sold it. then i buy the intrepid for $300...drive it, crack the block after 2 years (about 4 months ago) and he tells me he still has the ranger and i can buy it back for $1,000. so i junked the intrepid at the junk yard and he gives me the truck. then i got pissed about 2 months ago and felt the need to speed and now im losing my license on the 8th of february....now im ****ed...can't get to work, can't pay for truck....im ****ed haha. and i still have $505 left to pay on it..****. and i put all this money intot he stereo and planned on moving to Mansfield texas in july w/ my bro when he gets out of the army...i ****ed my plans up good. but yeah.

i want to do alot to the truck now, and/or get an SVT Contour. end of story

Had a Honda Prelude, timing belt blew, f'ed up the engine, got it fixed and sold it on ebay.

Uncle knew a dealer friend who went to an auction and bought me a truck. I didn't know what company, model, drivetrain, nothing.....Found out I got a 02 Ford Ranger, 2wd, sonic blue, flareside. I fell in love at first sight. Decided to get into the world of modding.

It was my first vehicle, was a very good price, had the main options I was looking for (stick shift, cd-player, and a V6- LOL ). It caught my eye (was in the middle of a bunch of luxury cars, with its bright red bumpers, chrome wheels, and new a/t tires.. just looked like eye candy compared to the other boring luxury cars IMO.. So I went and bought it like 2 days later.

Out of most of my friends, I was the only one to have a car. I had a 00' saturn sl2 (p.o.s.car). I decided to trade it in and get a truck, so i found a 00' nissan frontier for a good price. I had that for about a year and screwed it up lifting it and everything. I sold that and decided to buy a brand new truck, which is what I'm sitting in right now. One of my best friends has an 04 spindle lifted and let me drive it the night before I bought my truck. I fell in love with the ranger and went down to the dealership and bought the thing brand spankin new. Too bad I didn't know about the 4.0 engine, but I still love this truck either way.

I bought mine because a.) I wanted a truck, b.) I wanted something cheap, and c.) I wanted something that was cheap on insurance. So I happened to be driving past a dealership one day, saw the ranger sitting there, and thought, "Gee, I should stop in and test drive that." So I did, and later that day I bought it. End of story. Or is it. That bargain truck turned out to be not so much of a bargain. Now that I've had it for a little over a month, it's had to have many things done. Thermostat, thermostat gasket, spark plugs, spark plug wires, headgasket, waterpump, timing belt, serpentine belt, hoses, rear brakes, and an exhaust gasket. Oh yeah, and the clutch is getting ready to go out. What a deal, I tell you what. Even though this truck has cost me a fortune and given me tons of grief, I'm still glad I'm driving a truck. But, I can't help thinking, I should've bought a Chevrolet. lol.

Needed a new vehicle, knew I wanted a truck with a standard transmission and a 4-cylendar engine. Stumbled across mine in Goshen while out for the day, test drove it and the rest is history.
