Hiya fellas I just joined. And my problem is my 3.0 ltr v6 vulcan blew about 3 weeks ago. Im wondering if i could just stick a 4.0 l in its place? Its a 99 ranger sport 2wd . Anyone who takes the time to help will be much appreciated. My name is Eric. And Im in Alamogordo NM.
PS anybody know where i can find a decent engine to replace my blown up one? In my reasonable area.

Welcome to the forum

No, not really, you would have to change engine, transmission, engine wiring harness and computer, to get the 4.0l to work

Try car-part.com

Search for 1999 Ford Ranger 3.0l Engine, VIN V or U is fine to use
1995 to 2008 3.0l Ranger or Mazda B3000 will work
Avoid 2004-2006 3.0l years
You will need to swap over your intakes and a few other parts to match 1999 unless you get a 1999 3.0l replacement

THanks Ron, i appreciate you taking your time to answer. I've been stuck home most of 3 weeks. I was driving to town when i heard that bucket of bolt's sound. And b4 I could rven pull over the engine stalled i opened the hood to see steam shooting out the sidesunder the heads. It cranks but there is no compression. Unfotunately i just spent a bit for a clutch and front end and brakes shocks radiator . So its worth it to keep it I think. My bike also took a **** of sortsat the same time and I've been in efi hell since. Im going to test ride it now i may have found it in the form of loose connection to an et sensor.if it works out atleast ill be able to go do errands. So much fo my electronic motorcycle. I think changing the engine is about my cheapest solution to dealing eith my presant sit.
Again thanks. I'll bee in touch as zhe saga continues.
Eric
