Wipers and igntion buzzwer issue

Just picked up the truck 1995 Ranger XLT. The key buzzer only buzzes for a few seconds, if you move the ignition it buzzes for a few seconds each time its moved. The wipers only work when the buzzer is dinging. and the wipers when turned off stay in the up position. I replaced the ignition mech and the on off wiper relay. What am i missing in this weird scenario??

Welcome to the forum

What engine?
Manual or automatic?
2WD or 4x4?

I know, why would I need that for wipers and a buzzer..........????

Well the wiring diagrams can be different depending on the options

Anyway, next time

Only thing the buzzer and wipers have in common is the GEM(generic electronic module)

Also called a Body computer

The buzzer itself is usually built-in to the GEM, and GEM activates buzzer when key is left in and door opens or head lights are left on and door opens

And the wiper switch isn't connected to the wipers it is connected to the GEM and GEM controls the wiper relays and Park, see drawing below

GEM is behind the Radio in the dash

Google: 1995 ranger GEM images

It could just be a loose connector on GEM, but unlikely

And could be wiring issue outside the GEM, but when you add the Buzzer issue with wiper issue, my guess is GEM problem

GEMs come in different "flavors" depending on the options in the vehicle, i.e. 2WD or 4x4, power locks, power windows, ect.....

Thank you for the reply. It's a 3L ...5spd...4x4. No power windows or door locks.

The guy I just bought the truck from said he replaced the wiper motor...could that be the culprit on why they are not going down when turned off? The cam mechanism is not catching?

Its was the GEM module. I searched Ebay and they were ranging in price from 99 to 200. Unacceptable. So i searched how to repair the current one and heres the link. it worked perfectly. My wipers and buzzer now are working the way they should be.
