Airbag light is on too and dome light not working. Checked fuses and replaced GEM module. Still not working. Any thoughts? 2001 Ranger, 4x4. Seems to have started when I broke dome light bulb.

Reason: More info
When you replaced GEM did you check that it had power?
Fuse 10 and 11 and 20 and 26 and 28 in cab fuse box
Fuse 16 is the only wiper specific fuse
But above gas pedal area there is Auxiliary Box 1, has a few relays inside, Battery Saver Relay and Interior light relay.
Shorting out dome light could have caused a problem there
While pulling fuses to find what had stopped the cigarette lighter that was powering my portable cd player I noticed the microfuses have open connections to the pins. So using a voltmeter, find a ground for black and just test fuses on each pin side and if you have the same reading on both sides the fuse is good.
It sure beats pulling and replacing each.
Just bought a Ranger, interior light didn't work, along with wipers, speedometer and odometer. I read this thread, checked fuse 26, which was empty ??? I put in a new 10A fuse, and bingo, everything worked. Thanks
I am glad I found this thread. I bought an 01 2WD XLT last month and couldn’t figure out what was wrong with the wipers. I was also missing the #26 fuse... only thing I can think is it was pulled to stop the door buzzer? This was a farm truck.

light dinger warning, speedometer & auto window not working
Replaced my battery on my 2002 ford ranger, now speedometer & odometer don't work. Also the power window works, but not the auto down feature. I also noticed the warning dinging does not happen if I leave my lights on & open the door. Wierd or what ?

2000 ranger 2.5L 2wd. My Speedometer, Wipers & Dome Light stopped working when dome bulb blew. Now in the past Speedometer, Wipers, quit working but it was only a fuse. Now I have checked my fuses in cab multiple times, ground wire (Black/White) on the GEM is reading .2oHm as it should be while off. I'm completely stumped an not sure how to fix this before I dump unnecessary money to find out that's not the issue.
THANKS IN ADVANCE
Just the dome light uses the Battery saver relay so that's not your issue
Speedometer gets its "speed signal" from GEM, as does computer and Cruise
All Wiper controls go thru GEM
So GEM is most likely bad
In a 2000 Ranger fuses 10, 20, and 25 power GEM
Fuse 26 powers speedometer
If you want to check Battery Saver relay its in a Relay Box above gas pedal, it has a cover that faces Parking brake pedal, so faces left
Battery saver relay is in that box, along with several other relays, there is no "map" for which relay is which
I am investigating the above problem. I am looking at Fuse #26. Removing Fuse #26 drops the at rest current draw to 0.04A from 0.37A. On my vehicle Fuse #26 feeds the Battery Saver Relay, Interior Lamp Relay, Instrument Illumination Dimming Module, and the Dome/Map Lamp, according to the owners manual. Just wondering if anyone has dealt with similar symptoms and if so what was the remedy?

You should really start your own thread.
Now we have 3 different people with similar issues, no one is going to know who is replying to who.
