"burned in" image in tinted glass?
I recently bought a used Ranger, the previous owner had made some crude handmade diamond shaped decals on the rear glass, which said "88". I figured I could scrape it all off later, but to my dismay, the images seem to be burned into the glass, no solvent, so razor blade will remove it. I'm not sure I want to spend the bucks to replace the glass, thinking maybe painting over it? I put some stickers over it as a temporary fix.
Anyone got any ideas or am I facing replacement as my only option?
Here's a couple pics of the problem

He probably used liquid etch, i have a bottle of it and it eats the glass down a layer. OP is pretty boned when it comes to getting rid of that unfortunately.
yeah dude, i agee with red ak ranger...i think your hosed. its etched not burned or anything it. i say maybe have one of your friends come by late one night and kill that window. let your insurance help you out with this one
of course, I would never think of doing anything like that
, but I didn't think of that, that explains the way there is no clear "edge" is if you know what I mean. Geez, who would glass etch a NASCAR number into their window glass? O, wait.........
that sucks, but at least rear glass is easy to replace, I got my slider for free, unbolted the stock solid glass, pushed it out, put the new one on and didnt even have to re-seal it or anything because the stuff that they use to seal it stays tacky. had it on 2 years and not a leak yet. took like 20 min.
