Ok, so there have been alot questions about this topic, so when I did my seat swap I took pics, and thought that a "Sticky" on this would be good.

To start with: this write up is not guaranteed to work for everyone truck, or seats. The wiring set up I did may not be the best setup - do at your own risk.

So the information I have learned thus far is:

Seats from an Explorer, or Explorer Sport Track, 2001- or older are a direct bolt in to (I believe) any ranger. There may be issues with seats fitting in reg cab trucks though -HELP?-

So with that, here is the write up install.



First locate the two bolts at the front of the seat, and the two in the back. They are T55 Torx Bolts.



Un clip the two-wires that go to the seat belt pre-tensioner.



Next, pull the fabric back from the seat belt area to access the Torx bolt I think it was T50, but I only had T 45, and it worked.



Remove the seat belt from the new seat (T45)


There are two tabs I had to bend to allow the seat belt from the original seat to set in, and allow the bolt to go through



I took a 1 3/4" threaded bolt to hold the seat belt in place (I realized after the fact, you can take the bolt from the original seat and use it - its longer)



Do the same for the passenger side too



The Power sliding Explorer seats have a wire connector. One is all black and one black/white stripe - the all black is ground, the blk/white is hot
I found this spot to attach the ground under the seat area, had to cut the rubber to access it, but could have just pulled it back I realized.



I ran the wiring under the rubber floor mat, up to my fuse box, with an "adda fuse thingy"



put the two bolts in up front and in back, and shazam! the finished product

It appears that the 2 RD/LB are the main power wires for the Driver Seat Module and the lumbar pump. By the looks of things, you will also need power to the 2 light green/yellow wires (these two LG/YE wires may still be spliced together in the harness, depending on how the seats and wiring were removed).

There are two grounds from the Driver Seat Module, one is solid black and the other is black/white. The BK is probably much heavier gauge wire than the BK/WH.

Regular Explorer power seats (without heat/lumbar/memory) only require one power wire and one ground per seat. There is no wiring present for power seats in an 03 Ranger or anything heavy enough to tap into. You will need one new fused 25~30 amp circuit to power them both. Hot on the seat harness is black/white. Ground is black.


Please add tell me what I missed, or have wrong on here please, and hopefully this will help out.
