kmh to mph cluster swap

has anyone had any experience going from a cluster/odometer measuring kilometers (km) to one measuring in miles?

if anyone knows exactly how the gearing for the odometer works then we could figure out if i would need to swap my km odometer or if the the mile odometer will just work properly.

i need to either swap the odometer or roll the sport trac odometer as the mileage difference is drastic (about 15000 miles). mine read 93000~ km compared to the sport trac's 72000~ miles.

appreciate any insight.

no clues?

well for the 2000 model speed is measured at the rear diff. is it safe to assume that the unit sends the same signal and the difference in km and miles is determined at the cluster?
