Moving the center console?

The console in my 2000 Ranger just isn't mounted where I want it. It's shoved up under the dash to the point I can't even fit a drink into it properly. Has anyone had any luck relocating their console? I'd like to do something like that with mine. I mounted my XM radio receiver over the keylock for the passenger airbag so now I can't even use one of the cup holders!

wtf is a gentex mirror?

I'm pretty sure I know what console you are talking about.....the one on the floor on the tranny hump, below the air bag switch. If you have an automatic, you're in luck. If a manual, you are not in luck. Those "bezel/cupholder/storage" things are mounted via screws into a plate that is mounted via screws onto the transmission/cab floor inspection plate. Moving that cupholderthingy is easy on an auto trans truck. Manual....the stick comes through those pieces, and yea you can move it a little, but not much in order to keep the shifter functionable.

Pull off your cup holder thing. Pull off that cup holder mounting plate. Do either of the following......1: mount that base plate using self tappers through the carpet, into the inspection cover. 2: pull the seats. Pull back the carpet to gain access to the inspection plate and make for a cleaner install.

^^At least that's what i'd do.

Crap. I edited the wrong post with the Gentex mirror comment. I corrected it. :)

That sounds exactly like what I'm looking for. I do have an automatic so that should be perfect. Are the mounting screws below the holes at the bottom of the cup holders?
