does anyone have any detailed pics of how to zip tie the gas pedal up? i took off the intake tube and had my bro floor the pedal(engine off ofcourse) and the throttle plate opens about 80% of the way and i want it to opoen all the way!

any help is much appreciated

get a scotchlok and take the metal thing out of it.
put it over the wire and clip it, then put a wire-tie over the scotchlok to hold it closed.

this is a scotchlok btw.

 

I think you have a bigger problem. This is not a a zip tie thing.

You probably have the sheath to the cable not hooked in a retainer at one end or the other. If the dheath is not retained, the sheath can move rather than the cable when you press the gas and it results in slack and lowered range of motion.

There's no way a properly run throttle cable could stretch THAT much. You'd be better off fixing the problem correctly rather than "band-aid'ing" it.

If there is nothing like that wrong, better get another cable before it snaps on you.

 

There's usually an adjustment on the throttle body side of the cable to make it tighter. I don't know for sure this is there on rangers, but I'd imagine so.

 

Ah yes, I forgot that some have that adjustment. That could be it also -- very similar to the sheath loosening problem.

Don't over adjust it though as it stresses the cable and linkage at full throttle. There's a spring in the linkage (in the accelerator on mine) and the idea is that at full-throttle that spring is not fully compressed. It's there to keep from snapping the cable when it's cold and shortened by contraction and so forth.
