OHC question

I was looging for the link to John Griggs site but can't find it. Anyone have it? I know he did a sweet write up on the OHC install and I have no idea where to put the outside temp probe lol

behind the grille/headlight. If you still have the snap thingy then you can find a hole to mount it in. Try not to mount directly in front of the radiator since that will give out heat.

is the wiring long enough to put it in these places or will I ned to extend it some? You don't want a lot, if any, wind hitting it right?

The wiring for the sensor was in the large Explorer engine bay harness and is not present in the Ranger harness. You will need to extend the the 2 sensor wires by several feet to route them from the front of the truck to the interior. Easy.

Mine plugged right into two existing holes in the radiator bulkhead near the headlight using the stock Ex mounting clip. In this position, it is far enough away from the radiator and out in the airstream but it is behind the bumper for protection.

There were 4 similar sensors used on 95~01 Explorers - 2 are for the overhead console and 2 are for the EATC. You can use either of the two console sensors but the ones for the EATC won't give the correct temperature.

Look at the wire color codes on the matching connector pigtail. Blue/white and blue/yellow are for the console like the ones below. Either style will work equally well for your 95~01 Ex console.

Right under the front bumper area. It'll be easy to find.

The one for the OHC and the EATC are mounted in front of the radiator just behind the grill. I've never had problems regarding temperatures from being near the radiator. My temp sensor has always been around 2 degrees off from what is reported on the signs one drives by, but that aside, I found it easy to mount them on the radiator bulkhead with zipties.

Like I said, either one is fine for any Ex console 95~2001. Just get the kind with the right color codes. You only need one and can't use two.

That looks good. It even has the white clip with pushpin to mount it to the radiator bulkhead.
