A-Pillar Trim Removal

I have all but one piece of weatherstripping to replaced on the driver's side. This last piece requires the removal of the trim pieces. I was able to snap-off the floor trim piece, but can't figure out how the A-pillar trim is supposed to be removed. Does anyone know please?

Yeah, if you have the pillar grab bars just remove them by taking off the two rubber guards on each one and unscrewing it. Then pull the pillar out. It has lil plastic tabs that "snap" into lil metal grabber things on the actual a-pillar of the truck.

Don't be afraid, just yank that trim peice off.

Thanks. I don't have the grab-bars (that's one of the next projects). I guess I'll pull the crap out of it like I had to do for the floor trim.

Putting in grab bars means installing the metal support bracket for the grab bar. You'll also have to aquire the grab bars and trim peices made for the grab bars.

I was hoping to find the support brackets arleady in-place. If that's not the case, I won't worry about doing it. I can alwasy find the new trim piece and bar online or at a junkyard.

I sold an a-pillar/grab bar set to Frank(pastfinder) and he needed the bracket. It was a pita to drill out the super rivets the use to install them. Very tricky spot to get a drill.

Like I said, tomorrow when I get the trim off, if the mount is not already there, I'll bag the idea of installing the grab handles. For now, my main objective is to get that last piece of weatherstripping replaced. While I have the extended cab floor trim off, I'll knock a hole thru the drain-plug to run the CB coax. I'm tired of having it entering the cab via the rear sliding window.

Yeah that's no good. I've only done that if I were using a temporary magnet mount or something.

The trim peices make a gut wrenching "snap" sound when you remove them and you can swear that you broke them, but they are fine. I think the floor/door trim peices on my '03 are the scariest sounding.
