getting the smell out

getting the smell out
I picked up a turkey for my grandma and after I was taking it out I found out there was loads of gravy in the pan and a lot of it ended up spilt all over my passenger seat. I cleaned it all off and thought it was fine. Then I didn't drive my truck the next day but the day after that I did and it was the most awful smell in it. I got out and found the carpet all wet with gravy and pulled some of it up and found puddles of gravy sitting there (I realized I had a bigger problem). Anyways I took all the carpet out and cleaned up the seat and carpet as well as I could and put it all back in. So now there's no puddles or wet spots but I still have a terrible smell. Whats the best way of getting it out. And covering it up with febreze only works for a few minutes.

Did you use a carpet extractor to clean it? You're pretty much garunteed to still have gravy SOMEWHERE if you're still smelling it... I wouldn't use febreeze... I would say use a carpet exctractor if you haven't already and leave the windows cracked for a day or 2 and see if that improves anything... putting other chemicals may just cover the smell or make it worse and you'll probably still have gravy rotting in the truck.

Find someone/somewhere with an ozone generator. You leave it in your truck for a few hours depending on how bad the smell is, it will kill whatever is causing the smell. The only thing is you cant leave it in for like 24hrs or any long periods or it will deteriorate the plastic in the truck, but it will usually kill the smell in a couple hours so it doesn't matter. I'm not sure where you can find one, but no spray cleaner or anything else will work as good as one.
