anyone on here ever swap in an OHC from a sport trac in a ranger. I have looked at all the how to's and they are all for pre-04 rangers and with explorer ohc. mine is from an 04 sport trac, there was no mounting bracket, it's only held in place by 2 spring clips, no screws at all.....

any advice?

 

It's not held in by any screws? You need the mounting bracket that screws into the roof.

 

nope, no screws, when i was getting the leather seats and rims from the guy, i asked him how much for the ohc and he said if you can get it out, it's yours. I reached up near the windshield, pressed up on the headliner enough to get my fingers under the lip of the ohc, and pulled down, wasn't expecting it to pop off completely, i was sure there would be 2 screws, but no, just 2 clips, and no bracket, the clips go directly into the crossmember supporting the roof near the windshield. now this did have a sunroof, and there is a very small lip that was under the sinroof trim, like a 1/16" (1-2 mm) lip at best, and the sunroof trim was like a softer rubber like trim, no real holding power.

yup, it came from an 04 sport trac with a sunroof. I'm sure i can come up with a way to mount it, iI was just wondering if anyone here had already done it.

I may have to fab up a mounting plate or something.

 

the mount has the motor on it thats why. u gotta take the sunroof motor with it and then just take it off.
