Starter Buttons - Anyone install them ?
#26
Not mine but I remeber somebody on RPS doing this. Here what he did. (Rat Ranger)
I used an S2000 start button. you have to file someof the ribs off its sides and maybe file a little off the cigarette lighter hole to get it to fit. but here are the pics and the wiring diagrams I did up.

I thought it was good idea, something different and at the same time very stock and unique.

I'm negative, You sound like a negative person to me, You don't like my Opinion feel free to add me to your ignore list otherwise pipe down. There are a lot more negative people on here than me. When I think something is silly I will say so. If you don't like it, I don't care. <---see Positive.
Nobody's giving a reason that this is a benefit other than A: you feel like your ranger is a race car. Or B: it broke and it was a cheap fix. Other wise just plain silly.

I had a 'push start' so to speak on my 1990
I had 2 temporary on switches (where you push them to engage, and they are spring loaded to release when you let go) wired in series (so that accidentally pushing one didn't spin the starter). I forget exactly which wires i used, but I by passed the clutch switch and the ignition key...
walk in, push both down, let go... walla..
my 1999 has a push start feature from the factory, but i usually don't use it because its such a pain to get the truck rolling and then pop the clutch every time

LOL, You seem pretty ignorant to auto Forums for someone who has 17000 + posts. If he wanted only positive input, maybe it should be for something that has a benefit, or just asked his buddies off line. Once he went public it is fair game. It is silly, pointless and another thing that Car guys moved on from 60 years ago that people think they just discovered. The only cars it makes sense for are the ones with no keys, like the Nissan Altima I rented. You just had to have the key fob on you and then only push the starter button. Turning a key and then pushing a button is silly and a step backwards. It is like driving around with a Window net on your truck. Silly and I will make fun of it. And if you can't take it, either hit the ignore user button, or don't post on the internet.
If you want to put a ceramic pile of Dog poop on your hood it is your truck and I will support your right to do it, but I am going to make fun of it. Especially if you post it here.
I also suggest you all get thicker skin, there sure have been some Sally's on here lately.

You guys are silly, I think you need a break from the computer if you can't handle it. Name one rule I have broken? Calm down. Feel free to ignore me if you don't liek what I say. Trust me there are a lot worse on this site Than what I posted, some has been said to me, you know what. I take it like a man. I have no beef with anyone here. This is how Car guys are, and how this place used to be. We are brutally honest. I asked what the benefits were maybe if he told me some I would change my opinion. He didn't so I say it is silly, like tire Flies for GT/R badges from Checker. If you post it on the forum you are asking for opinions. I have installed one and I thought it was stupid. I was just to lazy to rewire a column in the old skater truck I bought of someone for $50. If it was a better truck I would have done it right.

I've been sketchy? LOL! You really must have thin skin. I have never even thought about attacking someone here. I like most people here, Heck it is the only reason I am still here while I am inbetween rangers. This place is fun and not a bunch of old guys with too much money like other auto sites I belong to. BTW Differing opinions are not a direct attack. Hell calling me a A**hat is closer than anything I have ever done, but I could care less. My life doesn't revolve around whether a person on the interweb likes my truck or not. Life is too short buddy, Calm down.

Its nice when it's actually factory, and part of a comfort access system where you dont need to take the key out of your pocket to get in the car either just walk up to it, sit in it, hit a button and go. but a little pointless if you still need to stick your key in the ignition for the vehicle to start. All new BMW's have a button, but they are just doing it to get out of the clunky ignition, key and tumbler system and go electircal like everything else. Just a slot for your "key" (chunk of plastic) and a button, much cleaner less to break/wear out. New Jaguars don't even have a place to put the key anymore. I like it, but wouldn't bother putting it in something that didn't have it.
